Community Partnership for Lifelong Learning

Vision
We believe that all students are lifelong learners who will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for success in school, in the workplace and in life.

Organizational Mission
The mission of the Community Partnership for Lifelong Learning is to work collaboratively to improve community systems that have an impact on learning and workforce competitiveness.

Guiding Principles
We are committed to quality and performance.

We are committed to the development and maintenance of open communication among business and education organizations.

We will work collaboratively to address issues of importance to all partners.

We will use a systems approach to all of our efforts.

All partners will examine their own roles and view other partners and customers.

We will use the resources and time of all partners efficiently and effectively.

We are committed to a long-term, on-going partnership.

The focus of all our efforts will be on learning.

Conceptual Framework for a Successful Educational System

  1. STANDARDS. A successful system expects high academic standards that prepare students for success in school, in the workplace and in life.

  2. PERFORMANCE AND ASSESSMENT. A successful system focuses on results, measuring and reporting student and system performance so that students, teachers, parents and the public can understand and act on the information.

  3. SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY. A successful system identifies schools that persistently fail to educate their students, assists schools struggling to improve, and rewards exemplary schools.

  4. SCHOOL AUTONOMY. A successful system gives individual schools the freedom of action and resources necessary for high performance and true accountability.

  5. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. A successful system insists on continuous learning for teachers and administrators that is focused on improving teaching, learning and school management.

  6. PARENT INVOLVEMENT. A successful system enables parents to support the learning process, influence schools, and make choices about their children's education.

  7. LEARNING READINESS. A successful system provides high-quality prekindergarten education for disadvantaged children. It also seeks the help of other public and private agencies to overcome learning barrieers caused by poverty, neglect, violence or ill-health for students of all ages.

  8. TECHNOLOGY. A successful system uses technology to broaden access to knowledge and to improve learning and productivity.

  9. SAFETY AND DISCIPLINE. A successful system provides a safe, well-disciplined and caring environment for student learning.
